How to Achieve Success as a Leader

Learning to be an effective leader is in part discovering what to do but, equally as important, it’s also learning what NOT to do. As a leader rises on the wings of his or her success… the game begins to change. What made someone a rock star at one level could very well be what sinks their ship at the next.

It might sound a little counter intuitive but this statistic reinforces the point…

Forty percent of new leaders don’t last 18 months of rising into an executive role.

Why is that?

Why would someone who showed such ability, promise and aptitude fail as soon as they climb up the ranks? Or maybe the more important question… how can you or I avoid it happening to us?

The answer is available in The Next Level: What Insiders Know About Executive Success, a new book by Scott Eblin. Scott’s insights aren’t just his opinion, they are backed by his personal experience as a former Fortune 500 HR executive as well as countless interviews with senior level leaders across a number of industries. At the bottom of this post I’ll tell you how you could possibly win a copy of his book, free!

I recently had the opportunity to interview Scott for a tele-seminar he did on the topic of Leading at the Next Level. You can listen to the audio below (if you’re reading this via email – click here).
